La Pilarica – A small farm that packs a punch

La Pilarica – A small farm that packs a punch!

Located in Soriano, Uruguay, just 110 km from the port of Nueva Palmira, La Pilarica has been under our management since 2018. At 424 hectares, it may be small, but it is one of the most productive properties in our portfolio.

With an average CONEAT Index of 180, it boasts some of the most fertile soils in Uruguay, ideal for growing rainfed row crops. But to preserve and enhance that fertility, we built a modern regenerative beef operation based on adaptive multi-paddock grazing 🐄🌿. This system allows us to produce naturally and ethically raised grass-fed beef in rotation with crops, ensuring a balanced and resilient ecosystem.

Our regenerative practices at La Pilarica contribute to improving soil health, water retention, and crop/pasture quality, restoring the small water cycle, increasing biodiversity, and sequestering atmospheric carbon. They also allow us to optimise resource use and run more cattle on the same land, while improving farm resilience against climatic variability.

As we look ahead, we are excited about what 2025 will bring for La Pilarica and the future of sustainable farming.
