La Victoria: A strategic asset in Paysandú
La Victoria is a 4,800-hectare livestock and forestry farm in Paysandú, northwestern Uruguay, which has been under our management since 2018.
La Victoria was leased to an independent beef producer, who operated it extensively for years, well below its potential. When the lease expired in 2023, we took direct control and built a best-in-class, intensive, regenerative cattle breeding operation. This strategic initiative strengthened our supply chain by reducing reliance on external livestock, ensuring genetic consistency, improving herd health, and making our grass-fed beef production more resilient across our portfolio.
Key attributes of La Victoria:
🔹 Dedicated cattle breeding on natural pasture – We built a dedicated cattle breeding operation on natural pasture focused on producing high-quality calves to supply four other properties in our portfolio.
🔹 Regenerative grazing practices – We apply adaptive multi-paddock grazing across La Victoria to boost productivity, achieving a significantly higher stocking rate per hectare while improving pasture quality, soil health, and biodiversity.
🔹 Significant scale - La Victoria is one of the largest properties under our management, second only to Villa Lucero, with a herd of 1700 head producing 1540 calves annually.
🔹 Strategic location – Located in Paysandú, La Victoria offers unique market access and logistical advantages, optimising cattle distribution across our operations.
🔹 Water and Infrastructure Investment – Our recent upgrades to La Victoria’s water systems and fencing support more efficient grazing management and animal welfare, further enhancing productivity and sustainability.
When we began operating the farm, there were 1,500 breeding cows, and our goal is to increase this to 2,000 in the coming months.
