Planting 572 hectares of soybeans at Villa Lucero
We just sowed 572 hectares of soybeans at Villa Lucero. This is part of a mixed rotation system in which we will alternate rainfed row crops with pastures for cattle to graze on.
Here’s how we got off to a good start
:✔ Precise herbicide application: We couldn't avoid using herbicide to clean the remnants of our tenant's latest harvest. So we used precise farming techniques, for example applying the required product sparingly and using anti-drift nozzles to target it precisely to minimise its impact on soils, flora and fauna.
✔ Precise sowing: We used similar precision farming techniques to prepare the seedbed and determine ideal seed placement such as drills that regulate the optimum seed distance and depth to achieve an excellent implantation rate and optimise crop yields.
✔ Smart fertilisation: We tested soils to determine the minimal amount of fertiliser needed to correct soil deficiencies and to apply it precisely.
✔ Land restoration: We repaired incipient gully and trenches to minimise and control soil erosion.
✔ Seed treatments: We used inoculants and biostimulants to reduce the need for chemical fertilisers and boost germination rates and increase our crops' health and resilience.
