We are now well into the 2023 Rugby World Cup. In a surprising turn of events, Uruguay gave France a run for their money in their inaugural match before ultimately losing 27-12. A resilient Uruguayan team met France head-on, leading the game at different points and showcasing their skill with two tries worthy of the most seasoned teams. In the final ten minutes, France managed to secure their win with a try by Louis Bielle-Biarrey. However, they were unable to score the bonus points that many expected. This match, carried out under the watchful eyes of Emmanuel Macron and Luis Lacalle Pou, presidents of the republics of France and Uruguay, respectively, displayed the vigour of the underdogs.
It is within this vibrant sporting atmosphere that the co-founders of TLG Management Partners, Joaquin Labella, CFA and Francisco Roque de Pinho, had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with President Luis Lacalle Pou at a well-attended event hosted by the French Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Matias Saiz), Uruguay XXI (Sebastian Risso Clerc, María José Graña), and the Uruguay embassy in the beautiful setting of La Faisanderie - Stade Français inside the beautiful Domaine National de Saint-Cloud in Paris. Discussion topics ranged from TLG’s farmland investment and management activities in Uruguay to Francisco's big wave surfing in Nazaré (the President is an avid surfer), without forgetting rugby, naturally.
The evening proceeded with a dinner where participants were treated to Uruguay's famous grass-fed beef, known for its superior quality and taste, paired with a fine Tannat wine, courtesy of the renowned Bodega Garzon.
